New York City!!

I am here!!! Well I was yesterday, I'm in Nyack now, but we can see the Tapan zee bridge from her 3rd story window, beautiful view of the river and the city on the horizon.

Joy took me into the city after they picked me up from the airport and we drove around and parked and walked forever, from 55th st all the way down to canal st! then we walked back up a little bit and got on the subway...(my first subway ride!) and took that to 49th st and walked back to the car. We had lunch at this cute little place in little italy. Then we came and drove to her school and took naps and then went and had a late dinner at taco bell and then we saw ice age: the meltdown and came back and crashed =) yay.
I'll go into more detail another time. =) no pictures yet. but i'll try to get some up soon. keep posted!

My Island Home

A story I wrote for Sunday School

sunny

My Island Home copyright2006 by Lori Quick

"There was a girl
when only 4
got on a plane and went.

She flew to a land
surrounded by sea
that would be her
island home.

The language she learned easily
because she was so young,
and friends made just as easily
as soon as they had met.

This joyful, carefree, loving girl made everyone her friend.

With friends she
laughed and
played and
sang and
colored...

...and then she'd swing.

Good friends were they:
her native friends
that adored her
curls of red
and her
face so light.

Not older than five when
she heard the Easter Story;
about the death and resurrection of
the Jesus from her songs,
the "Jesus loves me this I know
for the Bible tells me so."

She saw a drama that made
the story come alive
and where she heard the Easter Story
in languages, all three.

She would decide to
love this Jesus
who loved the world;
even all the children of the world.

And with the faith of a child,
she asked Jesus
to make her heart His home.

For she knew the story was true,
Jesus died for me and you,
so we could live and share his
wonderful LOVE with all the people we meet."
